My latest project video just went live on YouTube! This video shows how to make a DIY Plywood and Epoxy Resin River Bench, and is my entry into the Rockler Plywood Challenge put on by the Modern Maker Podcast (#rocklerplywoodchallenge).
The design is influenced by, and a reaction to, the current river table trend. It is meant to be an anti-river table of sorts, with an industrial modern look that has straight lines instead of the curves of a live edge river table.
The bench is made from two layers of 1/2" baltic birch plywood. The bottom layer, which forms the river bed, is stacked plwyood, so you can see the endgrain layers of the plywood showing through the epoxy. The top layer is also formed from plywood strips, but the upper layer strips are rotated 90 degrees so that the veneer faces up, which made it easier for me to paint it white.
You could also modify this design and make it wider, and it could function as a modern river coffee table.
